MORE INFO

What you’ll learn

The course includes theoretical lessons (the physics and physiology of diving, the planning and study of the various underwater environments), practical lessons (equipment configuration, buoyancy, trim, kicking techniques) exercises and safety procedures (emptying of the mask, sharing the air, launching the signal balloon).

The course teaches you to become a safe and environmentally friendly diver.

The use of the UTD/DIR standard ensures that students meet the highest teaching standards.

Duration

The UTD Open Water course is usually carried out in four days, and includes a total of at least 24 hours of teaching distributed between theory, exercises in confined water and in open water.

How it’s done

It is a complete course structured in a simple and intuitive way. Exercises and skills are tested in confined water before being performed in open water. Skills include snorkel techniques, buoyancy, trim, propulsion, six basic exercises, air sharing and rescue procedures.

In-water Exercises

The exercises in the water are videotaped so that the students can visually check their behavior and learn to self-evaluate. Dives with decompression and in obstructed environments (caves or wrecks) are excluded. Student to instructor ratio should not exceed 6:1. The instructor could reduce the number of students in particular environmental conditions.

In a few days you will discover the charm of the underwater environment and learn the basic techniques to dive safely in this fantastic world.
